Kelowna is in the center of the Okanagan Valley, and the Kelowna International Airport (YLW) connects visitors and residents directly to and from many major cities in North America. Orchards and vineyards surround the city. Kelowna is situated on Okanagan Lake with a backdrop of mountains, vineyards, orchards, golf courses and beaches. The Spring, Summer and Fall Wine Festivals offer hundreds of activities. There are 15 wineries in and around the city, and over 95 through out the Okanagan Valley with many featuring fine restaurants. Okanagan visitors come for the water sports in the summer and nearby world class skiing and snowboarding in the winter, as well as hiking and biking trails in a natural beauty setting. Downtown Kelowna is set against the beauty of Lake Okanagan. It’s home to a developing Cultural District with galleries, theatres, restaurants, and trendy retail. Downtown Kelowna is home to hundreds of events and festivals throughout the year – family fun, cultural performances, street festivals, sporting events and more.
For the outdoor lifestyler such as camping, going to the beach, dirt biking, quading, golfing, water sports etc., West Kelowna is the place for you. Orchards and Vineyards abound the rolling fertile hills. Mission Hill Winery and Quail’s Gate Winery are two of the leading wineries, producing globally recognized vintages and offering wine tastings and a full service restaurant overlooking the Okanagan lake. There are many other wineries in the area.
Peachland offers a reprieve from the hurried pace of the city. There are walking trails along the entire length of the beach, swimming and relaxing on the shore, shopping, restaurants, camping and all that Peachland has to offer within walking distance.
The Okanagan offers one of the longest and driest golf season in Canada offering some of the most picturesque golf courses in the country. There are 50 Golf courses in the Thompson Okanagan and 17 quality courses in Kelowna alone. There are three major Ski Resorts in the Okanagan Valley, Big White, Silver Start and Apex Mountain.
